Vitamin B1 and B6

Vitamin B1 (thiamine) is a water-soluble coenzyme and takes over important control functions in the body to convert carbohydrates, fats and alcohol into energy. The physiologically active form is thiamine diphosphate, also known as thiamine pyrophosphate (TPP).

Pyridoxine, pyridoxal and pyridoxamine and their phosphate derivatives are summarized as vitamin B6. Pyridoxal-5’-Phosphate (PLP) is the active coenzyme form of B6 and is involved in nearly 100 enzymatic reactions.

Chromsystems offers CE-IVD validated complete assays for the determination of the active forms of vitamin B1 (TPP) and vitamin B6 (PLP), as well as calibrators and controls. All assays include the specific internal standard for each parameter.

LC-MS/MS Solution

Our new mass spectrometry assay allows the determination of the active forms of vitamin B1 (TPP) and vitamin B6 (PLP) in whole blood by LC-MS/MS. The sample preparation can be performed very quickly and consists of a simple protein precipitation eliminating the need for a derivatisation – ideal for laboratories with higher throughputs.

You will find an overview with further details in our LC-MS/MS brochure to download.
